Did you miss me? ; )

Unlike some other blogs, I don’t believe in posting unless I have something interesting or important to share — well, about small business needs, products, and services. But now I do, so here I am.

Just published on, my article titled “Is Your Web Site Having a Mid-Life Crisis?” In a nutshell, it helps you to decide if it’s time to overhaul your website — and what steps you then need to take.

Don’t have time to read the article just now? Here is my Top Ten list of “How to tell if your website needs a facelift” or (with a nod to Jeff Foxworthy) “Your website might need an overhaul if…”

1. No one is visiting your site — or, if they are, they don’t stick around for very long.

2. You don’t even offer those products and/or services anymore.

3. Even you can’t navigate your site to find the information you need.

4. Your competition just overhauled their Web site, and it puts yours to shame.

5. You have no or low rankings on the major search engines.

6. The site just looks and feels stale — to the point where you stopped making it the default page on your Web browser.

7. Your content is long-winded and out of date (or more than 18 months old).

8. Your 14-year-old nephew developed the site six years ago using Front Page and really bad clip art.

9. You decided you could save time and money building the site yourself, even though you have no design or copywriting skills, and it shows.

10. Your site takes five minutes to load, even with a broadband connection.

Got something to add to the list? Send me a comment.

Similarly, is there a topic, product, or service you would like me to write about? Let me know.
